Two Gators Grab Player of the Week Honors
Lawrenceville, NJ - The Skyline Conference office announced Player of the Week honors Monday evening and among the honorees were Nicole Corbett (Schodack, NY) and Christina Gray (Clifton Park, NY)
Corbett, a sophomore middle hitter for the Gator volleyball squad helped Sage finish 5-0 last week. Corbett averaged 2.92 kills and 1.07 blocks while hitting an efficient .445. With two starters missing for the opening weekend of conference play, Corbett carried the squad by averaging 3.33 kills with a .464 hitting percentage in wins over Mount Saint Vincent, Farmingdale and Old Westbury. She had 10 kills with no errors in 16 attempts along with four blocks against Farmingdale.
Gray, a junior standout for the Sage tennis team went 6-0 last week, winning all three of her matches at first singles and first doubles. In singles play, Gray did not drop a game in winning 6-0, 6-0 against Mount Saint Vincent, Polytechnic and Bay Path. She also teamed with Kathryn Saulsbery (Albany, NY) in doubles play and recorded two victories by a score of 8-0 and one 8-5. For the season, Gray is 3-1 at first singles and 4-0 at first doubles.
The Sage tennis team returns to the court Tuesday as they travel to Purchase looking to remain undefeated in conference play. The Gator volleyball team will travel to Bard on Wednesday, also looking to remain undefeated in conference play.
