Provost and Wilson Earn Skyline Honors

The Sage volleyball team picked up right where it left off last season in the Skyline Conference. After receiving the top spot in the Skyline pre-season polls the Gators capped a successful weekend with two Skyline Conference Player of the Week honors.

Senior outside hitter Krista Provost (Delanson, NY) was named Player of the Week while leading the Gators to a 2-2 record and a third-place finish at the NYU Labor Day Invitational. She averaged 2.57 kills, 4.36 digs and 0.36 service aces in four matches for Sage. Provost, who had 36 kills in the tournament, reached double-figures twice with 10 kills each against NYU and Rutgers-Newark. She also recorded 18 digs against NYU and 17 in the season-opener against Whitworth, earning all-tournament honors in the process.

The Sage Colleges also received a solid effort from freshman libero Kelsey Wilson (Schenectady, NY) who picked up the Rookie of the Week honors while averaged 3.79 digs per set in four matches at the NYU Labor Day Invitational. Wilson had at least nine digs in all four of the Gators’ matches. She had 20 digs in a 3-0 victory over Skyline rival Polytechnic and also added 13 digs in a 3-0 win over Rutgers-Newark. Wilson also contributed four service aces.
