Sage downs NYU-Poly 9-0 in Skyline action
Saugerties, NY----The Sage Colleges women's tennis team travelled to a neutral indoor site to complete a match started a few weeks back with NYU-Poly. Sage would earn the 9-0 win over NYU-Poly to wrap the 2009 regular-season and earn the No. 4 seed in the upcoming 2009 Skyline Conference Championship. Sage is now 8-3 overall and 6-2 in the league, while NYU-Poly drops to 3-9, 1-7.
Sage's senior Christina Gray (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) was a 10-0 winner over NYU-Poly's Ariel Zeig to improve to 16-0 in Skyline Conference action over the past two years, while standing at 8-0 this fall in conference singles play and 11-2 overall.
Sage's sophomore Erica Fitzgerald (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) added a 10-1 win over Stephanie Weldon to improve to 8-5 overall and 6-2 in Skyline action.
Gray would team at No. 1 doubles with junior captain Kathryn Saulsbery (Colonie, NY/Colonie Central) for an 8-1 win. Saulsbery was a winner as well for the Gators at third singles and is 6-3 on the fall.
Sage will be back in action on Tuesday, October 20 hosting Purchase College in the first round of the 2009 Skyline Conference playoffs. The winner advances to Thursday's semifinals at Mount Saint Mary College. Match times yet to be determined.
