WOMEN'S SOCCER
Barry Balkwell has been at the helm of the Gators's women's soccer program since the 2001 season. He holds a USSF "A" License.
He has had numerous
student-athletes rewrite the record books under tenure at
Sage. In the first year of competition in the Skyline
Conference he lead his team to the conference quarterfinals and had
five student-athletes named to the All-Skyline Second Team.
The 2008 team earned both a spot in the Skyline Conference
Tournament as well as the program's first-ever appearance in the
ECAC Upstate Tournament.
This season's squad holds a 9-8-1 record on the season and earned a spot in the Skyline Conference Tournament, marking the program's third straight bid. The 2009 Gators would also collect the program's first post-season with a 1-0 road win over Mt. St. Mary in the Quarterfinals, sending the team to their first semifinal appearance as well.
In addition to coaching at Sage, Balkwell coaches premier soccer locally as well as being a part of the Olympic Development Program. He is both a former Commissioner of Lansingburgh soccer and a former high school coach.
He is a graduate of the University of Phoenix with a degree in information technology. He is employed by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals as the Information Technology Administrator.
