Marszalek explodes for 9 points as Sage wins, 9-0
Latham, NY---The Sage Colleges women's soccer team exploded for a season-high nine goals as the Gators defeated the College of Mt. St. Vincent, 9-0 in a Skyline Conference match. With the win, Sage improves to 6-4-1 overall and 3-2 in the league, while the Dolphins drop to 0-11 and 0-5 in the conference.
Sage's sophomore Rebecca Marszalek (Adams, MA/Hoosac Valley) would tally four goals with an assist on the afternoon. With her performance on Wednesday, Marszalek collected her 50th career point as she now has 26 goals, five assists and 57 points. She scored three of her goals in the first half to lead Sage and tallied the game-winner just 1:48 into the action. She has eight career game-winners now including four this fall as she has 12 goals and an assist this year.
Junior Ashley Allain (Stillwater, NY/Stillwater) added two goals as well for Sage, while defenders Sarah Briggs (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) and Samantha DeFoe (Galway, NY/Galway) scored their first goals of the year as well.
Sage's junior goalie Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) started the action, but shared in the shutout win with freshman Jennifer Poulin (Walton, NY/Walton). Poulin recorded two saves for Sage, while Mt. St. Vincent's freshman Michelle Miller (Chester, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) made 11 saves on the day.
