Sage falls to MCLA, 2-0

 

Albany, NY---The Sage Colleges women's soccer team hosted Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Thursday in a non-conference match. MCLA would post a 2-0 win to improve to 13-3 overall, while Sage falls to 7-7-1.

Senior midfielder Jade Prickett (Westhampton, MA) would break the scoreless tie with her unassisted goal off a direct kick at 53:07, marking her second goal of the year. Junior Jess Tietgens (Stamford, VT) would add an additional score for the Trailblazers at 68:21. The forward leads her squad with 21 goals and 46 points this fall.

In goal for the Gators, was Sage's junior goalie Brittany McDonald (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) as she made five saves on the afternoon. MCLA's sophomore Jen Wehner (Cooperstown, NY) would collect the win after making 17 saves and earning her sixth shutout of the year.   Wehner would even stop a penalty kick with 2:31 left to play to preserve the shutout as she saved the attempt by Sage's junior Ashley Allian (Stillwater, NY/Stillwater).

 Sage returns to action on Saturday, October 31 hosting Maritime College in the Skyline Conference regular-season finale at Siena College. Prior to the contest Sage will honor senior Krystal Cozzens (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) in conjunction with Senior Day. In addition, Sage is also sponsoring a Kickin' for the Cure game to raise awareness of breast cancer and funds for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Fund. All fans are encouraged to wear pink on Saturday and are invited to Sage's TailGator prior to the match.

MCLA hosts Westfield State College on October 31 at 1 p.m.
