Albany, NY---The Sage Colleges women's basketball team hosted the Rams of Farmingdale State College on Saturday afternoon in Skyline Conference match on Saturday afternoon. FSC tallied the 74-26 win to improve to 11-5 overall and 8-2 in the Skyline, while Sage falls to 5-10 overall and 4-6 in the league.
FSC held a 32-17 edge at the break as sophomore forward Jalicia Conell(Westbury, NY/Hicksville) paced all the players with her nine first-half points. Sophomore guard Jeanette Zubizarreta (Bay Shore, NY/Calhoun) had seven points in the first half for the Rams and was held scoreless in the second half of play. Connell finished with a game-high 14 points for the contest, while junior guard Shemique Hooks (Westbury, NY/Westbury) added 11 points. Sophomore guard Juanita Chappel (Brooklyn, NY/Grand Street Campus) had a game-high 10 rebounds, including eight defensive boards.
Sage's sophomore guard Carly Vallee (East Greenbush, NY/Catholic Central) paced the team with six first-half points after hitting two three-point baskets. She elevated her career three-point baskets to 40 and moving her into the No. 10 place on Sage's career record book, just four behind Connie Kaidas's (2003-2005) who is 9th with 44 three-pointers.
Sophomore forward Kara Hackett (Peru, NY/Peru Central) added a team-high eight boards for the Gators on the afternoon, while junior forward Kelsey Frament (Waterford, NY/Catholic Central) added seven rebounds for Sage.
Sage returns to action on January 26 travelling to the College of Mt. St. Vincent for a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference game, while the Rams will face NYU-Poly on the same night on the road with a 6 p.m. start time.
