Women's Basketball Falls To WPI In ECAC Holiday Festival
Orlando, FL - The Sage Colleges Women's Basketball team fell to Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) 53-88 in the first round of the ECAC Holiday Festival held at Disney's Wide World of Sports.
The Gators found themselves down quick and early, but was able to keep within striking distance with solid defense. WPI shot 58 percent in the first half to take a lead of 40-17 into the locker room, compared to the Gators 28 percent.
Sage was able to find their feet on offensive end in the second half, despite being outscored 36-48. The Gators were led by Carlin DeMarinis (Saratoga Springs, NY) with 15 points, including a 3-5 performance from beyond the arc. Senior Sarah Otto (Albany, NY) chipped in nine points, while Elizabeth Donk (Phelps, NY) added eight points.
The Gators return to the court tomorrow at 2:30 when they face Neumann College for their final day at the Holiday Festival.
