Sage Falls to Old Westbury
The Russell Sage College Women's Basketball team fell to SUNY Old Westbury 52-57 in their final contest of the 2007-2008 season.
Troy, NY- The final game of the regular season for the Sage Colleges, who started the day in seventh place in the Skyline Conference, ended in the sixth place team's favor. SUNY- Old Westbury defeated the Sage Colleges by a score of 57 to 52 despite being down at the half, 24-23.
Today's game was similar in style to the teams' first meeting on January 24, where the lead switched hands. Once again, the Panthers were led by Pamela Robinson (Wheatley Heights, NY), who poured in 31 points and six rebounds. Robinson drained eight out of eleven free throws on the afternoon, six of which were in the second half.
Fittingly for the Gators on Senior Day, the seniors led the day in every major category. Senior Joahna Petralia (Greenwich, NY) ended her Sage career on a high note, contributing 11 points, six rebounds and a blocked shot. The two senior guards, who played all four years and share the record for the most games played in a Sage uniform at 94, Lynsee Barnes (Guilderland, NY) and Ashli Fragomeni, also played a large part in today's game. Barnes knocked in ten points, pulled down seven rebounds and had five assists and Fragomeni (Wynantskill, NY) had five points, four assists and two steals. Tasha Collidge (Pueblo, CO) led the Gators with 12 points, six rebounds and three steals. Finally, Ashley Wojcicki (Broadalbin, NY) added seven points and seven rebounds in the seniors' final game.
