Jose Quintero

A newcomer to the Gator men's soccer staff in the fall of 2011, Jose Quintero comes to Sage with an extensive background as a player and a coach.
Quintero's development began as a player in his native
Columbia, where he worked his way up as a goalkeeper through the
Columbia Youth National Team. He eventually spent some time on
professional teams, such as Deportivo Medellin.
After acquiring a great deal of abilities and skills as a player,
he transitioned from his playing day to that of a coach, where
he trained the under-20 collegiate teams in
Medellín.
Once he came to the United States, he obtained his
National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of
America and his State Coaching Certificate from the Eastern
Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association. In his quest to always have
the most up to date soccer concepts he has attended various
workshops, including "Functional Training in the 4-3-3
System” with Randy Waldrum, Notre Dame University's women's
soccer coach.
In 2008, he also interned at an International Professional Soccer
Coaching and Training Program offered by two of the most respected
Colombian soccer coaches, Alexis Garcia and Fernando Castro. They
are well known for the excellent quality of soccer their teams
display. Both of these experiences have been clear highlights
in his training process as a coach.
In 2007 and 2008, head was selected as the head coach for the Central Catholic High School's junior varsity teamin Allentown, PA. More recently, he served as the boy's varsity coach at nearby Christian Brothers Academy (Colonie, NY), for two seasons. In 2009, his team finished in third place in the Big Ten League.
Quintero possesses a wide knowledge of the functions of a goal keeper, giving him the possibility of developing to a maximum the abilities of the goalkeepers under his wing. At Sage, he will serve as the main goalkeeper coach, but will also assist in all facets of the program including organization of practices, game-day preparation, recruiting and scouting opponents.
