Troy, NY - The Sage College Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Luke Scala as the Head Men's Golf Coach.
Scala brings an impressive golf background to Sage as well as a wealth of knowledge. He has been a Class A PGA Professional at three separate courses throughout the greater Capital Region. Scala is currently at Van Schaick Island Country Club in Cohoes, where he has been since 2002. Prior to Van Schaick he spent time at Sycamore Country Club in Raven and Whispering Pines in Poughkeepsie.
An excellent motivator and teacher of the game, Scala is eager to get the program off the ground. After his hiring Scala stated, "I am privileged and excited to have been selected as the new Sage College Men's Golf Coach. This is an excellent opportunity to utilize my extensive experience and knowledge of the great game of golf to further educate and mentor Sage students. I am honored to be at the forefront as Sage College expands its Athletic Programs to be a competitor in the NCAA Division III arena. As a new entry into the Skyline Golf Conference I anticipate our golf program to have a competitive spirit, a very strong work ethic, and above all be representative of Sage College's reputation."
The Men's Golf team will begin competition in 2008-2009. The addition of the program is a part of The Sage Colleges athletics expansion plan, including six new men's teams put in place by the end of 2009-2010.
