Scurry helps Sage down Worcester State, 87-74 with 21 points

Albany, NY—The Sage Colleges' men's basketball team hosted the Lancers of Worcester State University on Monday afternoon in a non-conference game. Sage collected the 87-74 victory to run their win streak to two games and improve to 6-5. Worcester State drops to 1-13.

Sage benefit from the play of three players that scored in double digits including sophomore guard Isaiah Scurry (Albany, NY/Albany) as he had 21 points. He tallied five three pointers for Sage on Monday.

Worcester State's sophomore forward Shaun McCarthy (Oxford, MA/Oxford) poured in a career-high 32 points, but it was not enough to help the Lancers to the victory on the road. McCarthy connected for 14-of-18 shots from the floor, while converting 4-of-4 from the line and added 12 rebounds in the action. He collected 19 points in the second half in the action.

Sage led 50-31 at the half and while they never trailed after the half, the Lancers pulled within nine points (83-74 with 1:17 left to play.

Sage junior center Kevin Lenehan (Delanson, NY/Duanesburg) added 17 points with a team-high nine rebounds, while senior guard Wayne Weir (Bronx, NY/Samuel Gompers) tallied 11 points with four steals.

Rookie guard Bryson Gulley (Mattapan, MA/Edward M. Kennedy Academy) collected 16 points with seven boards and four assists. He had four three-pointers in the contest and helped the Lancers hold a 43-41 edge on the boards in the contest.

Sage will return to action on January 11 travelling to Stevens for a 5 p.m. empire 8 contest in Hoboken, NJ. Worcester State University is back in action on January 10 at Framingham State at 8 p.m.
