Farbotko leads Gators to key win over Bard, 88-55
Annandale on Hudson, NY--- The Sage Colleges men's team collected an 88-55 road win over Bard College in a Skyline Conference contest on Saturday evening. With the victory, Sage improves to 6-8 overall and 4-6 in the Skyline Conference. Bard drops to 1-13 overall and 1-8 in the league.
Sage led 39-25 at the break and never looked back en route to the win and is now just one win shy of tying last year's first season accomplishments in victories both overall (7) and in the league (5).
Just one game after having a double-digit scoring streak snapped, Sage's sophomore forward Matt Farbotko (Rouses Point, NY/Northeastern Clinton) led the Gators with his 20 points as he was 10-14 from the floor.
Mid-season transfer, junior Dalton Austin-Michaud (Valatie, NY/Icahbod Crane) erupted for a personal-best 17 points off the bench to add to the Gators' victory as he was 8-9 from the floor and nearly missed s double-double with his nine rebounds.
Sage's senior forward Derick Faragon (Rotterdam Junction, NY/Schenectady) added to the performance as he racked up his 14th straight double-digit scoring performance of the season with 13 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. Faragon now has four double-doubles on the season and continues to lead the Gators in scoring with a 16.5 ppg average.
Sophomore center Ryan Sager (Stuyvesant, NY/Ichabod Crane) connected for 12 points for the Gators and helped the team shot an 56.1% from the floor for the game as they made 37-of-66 shots and held a 47 to 27 edge on the boards.
Sage returns to action on January 18 hosting Purchase College in a league contest at 8 p.m. in the Neff Center (Troy, NY).
